Please note: 9-12 Workshops may not be offered as regularly as those for younger age groups. If that is the case, students may be given an extension of time or a special examination.

Workshops are designed to enable you to learn the presentation and use of Montessori teaching materials, and to develop skills in observing children and classroom management. Workshops are organised by the MWEI Co-ordinator for each region, and are arranged in one of the following formats: (a) meeting for several days during school vacations, or (b) as a series of weekend courses, or (c) as regular evening classes over a longer period of time.

As well as the lectures at workshops, some lecture-demonstrations by Miss Margaret Homfray, recorded on videotape, may be used for instruction. Practice with the materials is a requirement for the course, and credit is only given if you use the practice time in conjunction with the tuition. MWEI (Australia) seeks to offer workshops in a number of locations, though they can only proceed if sufficient people enrol. You should therefore be prepared to travel to a distant workshop location if necessary at some point in your study.
